We’re playing 58 Gallery’s New Year’s Eve party this year. 58 Coles St., Jersey City, NJ. It’s gonna be a ruckus.
We just got our CD back from the printer. “No Authority, Direction, or Control” is a six-song EP and it will be released on Friday January 25th at the Clash Bar in Clifton, NJ.

Good Holidays, chums!
A year ago The Meltdowns decided to write a Song for the Season, but weren’t able to put it together in time for an appropriate release. The idea was eventually shelved, and then resurrected (like our boy J.C.) for the year 2007.
It’s called “Yule Tide” and begins with a bit of a grumble about the “joys” of the shopping season, ponders familial responsibility, contemplates the “War on Christmas”, and ends on an upbeat and sentimental note that shuns consumerism (some what). It would be a lie if I didn’t say I had my family in mind specifically when writing this song (it’s written partially from the viewpoint of my father).
If you enjoy it, share it with someone special:

Friends! This Friday, the 7th of December (Pearl Harbor Day), The Meltdowns are making a grand return to Montclair, and we’re bringing friends. We’re renting the 8 Park Underground space (also known as The Meatlocker) at 8 Park St., in Montclair, NJ. The doors open at 8pm, music starts at 9. You’ll know you’ve found the place when you see the giant rooster painted on the side of the building. It’s in the basement!
It’s all ages, but ID is checked at the door to prevent under-age drinking. (We encourage you to behave yourself so that this space doesn’t get no trouble from the law. For realz.)
The line-up, in order of appearance:
- The One And Only Typicals
- Screaming Females
- The Meltdowns <-- check our myspace for show updates!!!!
- The Porchistas
The cost of admission is only six dollars, and if yer legal, you can byob. bee ob. yus. We’ll have t-shirts! Jarrett will have a pile of records for sale, from the hottest new bands, including the fantastic Screamales record. The Typicals and The Porchistas will be throwing music at you (and we might even have some preview singles of our new EP, or the Holiday jam we just put together).
See you there!
Tonight, Saturday the 1st of December, we are playing the Lamp Post in Jersey City with Screaming Females! We’re very excited. Also, we’ll be playing our new Christmas tune, which has yet to earn a title, but we’ve had it in the works for a year now, and we’re very excited to play you a Phil-Spector-meets-Tom-Waits jam. We’ll have the hot pink flame t-shirts, the neon green t-shirts, and it doesn’t look like I’ll have time to burn CDr singles from the EP, so you’ll have to come to Montclair next week to get those.
The EP should be back from the press in last December (in time for new years?) and I think we’ll throw the release party sometime in January at the Clash Bar, but it will likely be available from us when we play at 58 Gallery’s New Year’s Eve bash with American Watercolor Movement.
Exciting times, friends! See you soon.
